  3. Plot (definition) • Plot is the pattern or sequence of events that make up a story.

  4. 1. Exposition • Occurs at the beginning of a story. • Characters are introduced. • Setting of the story shown. • Introduction to the main conflict (main problem).

  5. 2. Rising Action • Conflicts are developed • Interest or suspense builds

  6. 3. Climax • Turning point of the story. • Main character comes face to face with a conflict. • Main character/events will change in some major way.

  7. 4. Falling Action • Loose ends of the plot tied up. • Conflict(s) and climax are taken care of… protagonist either wins or loses

  8. 5. Resolution • Story comes to a reasonable ending.
