  5. 2 Peter 3:14 “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make very effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”

  6. I. We need to have a clearly defined purpose in this life. • This helps us in light of life’s events. • The end of all things is near. • A clearly defined purpose helps us to be able to pray.

  7. Proverbs 10:12 “Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all wrongs.”

  8. 1 Corinthians 13:5 “(Love) . . . Is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

  9. Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

  12. 3 John 5-8 “Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans.

  13. 3 John 5-8 “We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth.”

  14. Listings of the Spiritual Gifts 1 Peter 4 Romans 12 1 Corinthians 12 Ephesians 4

  15. II. We need to have a functional use of our giftedness in this life. • We should use whatever gift we have received to serve others. • Administering God’s grace in its various forms. • Speaking the very words of God. • Serving with the strength that God provides. • So that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

  16. Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

  17. Next Steps: • Exhibit wisdom and self-control as we make decisions that affect the way we live; • Realize that Jesus is coming again and let this truth govern our attitudes, actions and relationships; • Love one another deeply; • Use our giftedness to serve one another so that God will be glorified.
