School System Improvement (SSI) Project Online Portal Training Portal Training for the Danielson Teacher • Instructions: • Use the left-mouse click, Enter key, Space Bar, or Keyboard arrows to move through the presentation. • Click or press a key once to make text and animations appear. • Wait for animations to finish before clicking or pressing a key again. • After viewing the training, confirm online the SSI Portal Trainings you have completed.

  2. Access the SSI Project Home Page ssiproject.rutgers.edu

  4. SSI Project Home Page Teacher Incentive Fund Login Log into the portal using your school email address. On your first login, use the password: ssi2014 Make sure to change your password afterwards.

  5. Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Once you log in, you will have three options: Welcome to the SSI Project Portal! Update your Profile Information Enter or review CSS Observations Enter or review Danielson Observations

Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) The focus of this training is on the Danielson Framework For Teaching (DFFT) for Teachers • The DFFT- Teacher Form contains 4 Domains and 22 components • Domain 1: Planning and Preparation • Domain 2: The Classroom Environment • Domain 3: Instruction • Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities • Observation Requirements • The DFFT-Teacher Form is a self-reflective measure. You can use the DFFT-Teacher Form at anytime to self-evaluate a lesson. • Each DFFT Self-Observation must be at minimum 30 minutes in length • We strongly encourage you to fill out the DDFT-Teacher form when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators • We also strongly encourage you to fill out the CSS Teacher Form when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators • For example, fill out the DFFT-Teacher Form and the CSS Teacher Form when you receive a formal direct classroom observation from evaluators

Teacher Incentive Fund Home Page Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) • Observation and Portal Procedure • After each self-observation, visit the SSI Portal and access the DFFT platform • Enter your DFFT evidence into the SSI Portal • Rate each component based on the evidence you collected • Rate each Domain based on your component scores • Rate your overall effectiveness determination for the lesson according to the DFFT • Enter scores for the Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) and any other direct classroom observation measures your school uses

  8. Teacher Incentive Fund Home PageCreate New Self Danielson Observation To create a new self Danielson observation, click Create New Self Danielson Observation. Let’s create a new Self Danielson Observation

  9. Create New Self Danielson Observation Fill out the required fields. Click Continue to begin logging evidence. Click Cancel to return to the TIF Home Page.

  10. Enter Evidence for DFFT Components Enter text in the evidence column and check the corresponding component(s) in the right column. Click on Submit Evidence to submit evidence (submitted evidence will appear at the bottom of the screen under the associated component(s)). Click Previous to return to the DFFT Observation page. Click Cancel to return to the TIF Home Page. Click on Enter Ratings to begin assigning scores for each component.

  11. Evidence Log for DFFT Observation • Click Previousto return to the DFFT Observation page. • Click Cancel to return to the TIF Home Page. • Click Enter Ratings to assign a score for each component.

  13. Enter DFFT Ratings – Middle of Screen Assign DFFT Component Scores Click Submit Ratings after assigning a value of 0 - 4 for each component.

  15. DFFT Observation Submission After submitting ratings, you will be brought back to the TIF Home Page. A message will appear to confirm your observation was successfully submitted.

  16. Teacher Incentive Fund Home PageView All Danielson Drafts To view or edit incomplete Danielson observations, click on View All Danielson Drafts.

  17. View All Danielson Drafts • All submissions are arranged from the most recent to the earliest and continue on to subsequent pages. • To edit an incomplete submission, click Edit Observation. • To delete a submission, click DeleteObservation.

  18. Teacher Incentive Fund Home PageView All Danielson Submissions To view or edit completed Danielson observations, click on View All Danielson Submissions.

  19. View All Danielson Submissions All submissions are arranged from the most recent to the earliest and continue on to subsequent pages. To edit a submission, click Edit Observation. To view a submission, click View Observation. To begin rating this particular observation using the CSS, click Start CSS.

  21. SSI Project PortalWhat’s Next? Thank you for completing the SSI Portal Danielson Framework for Teaching- Teacher Training. As new features of the portal become available, we will provide you with updates and subsequent training. Next, you may need to review the SSI Portal Trainings for the Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS) and any other direct classroom observation measure your school will be using to evaluate teachers. You can find these additional trainings in your portal access email. If you need this email resent to you, please contact us. You can also access these trainings via the Resources page on our project website: http://ssiproject.rutgers.edu/resources/ If you do not see a training for your direct classroom observation measure (e.g. Danielson, Stronge, McREL, Marshall, etc.) at this time, stay tuned. We are working very hard to add your information into our portal and will have this information available to you as soon as possible.
