  2. Characteristics In the grassland, Native Americans lived on the prairie. Grasslands are big, open spaces. There are not many bushes in the grasslands. There are not many trees. There is a lot of grass in the grassland because they grow well in this ecosystem.

  3. Location • Grasslands are located in the Mid -western part of the United States.

  4. Plant life • The prairie blazing star is one of the most beautiful flowers on the tall grass prairie. • Grass is the most common plant in a grassland.

  5. Animal life • Small animals make burrows in the ground. • Jack rabbits, coyotes, and prairie grass hoppers live in grasslands. • The huge majestic elephant is perhaps the most dangerous of all the African mammals of the grassland.
