  1. ACTION PLAN FOR PRACTICAL WORK YEAR 2011-2012 PREP-III SCIENCE -3

  2. LONG TERM GOALS • Adopt 21st century instructional technique to enhance students various scientific skills. • Produce open minded students to accept need of information technology.

  3. SHORT TERM GOALS • Change instructional technique using practical activities to promote critical thinking approach. • Focus on encouraging average students to make them more confident and active. • Emphasize on group work during practical activity. • Share ideas among children so to work in a better competitive environment.

  4. CHALLENGES The availability of certainmaterial in laboratory. The unplanned holidays during session. Grouping and friendship circle that may distract the class presentations and demonstrations. SOLUTIONS Make other resources possibly available a week before the practical demonstration and practice. I can take such things/materials which can be easily handle in the class during lectures rather to wait for the availability of laboratory or so. To control this problem I may take step to make their groups randomly with mixed skills. SOLUTION TO ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES

  5. TIME LINE • Demonstration and practicing of • Reactivity of metals in air • In water • In acid Practical examination September November August October • Demonstration and practicing of • Photosynthesis. • Presence of starch • Leaf structure. • Ascent of sap • Demonstration and practicing of • A dry cell • Circuits

  6. 21st CENTURY APPROACH

  7. TOPICS PHOTOSYNTHESIS. INTERNAL STRUCTURE OF LEAF. STARCH TEST ON VERIEIGATED LEAF. STARCH TEST ON FOOD SUCH AS VEGETABLES. ASCENT OF SAP IN VINCA ROSA. REACTIVITY OF METALS IN AIR, WATER AND ACID STUDY OF STRUCTURE OF A DRY CELL Cicuits and models STRATEGIES Demonstration by teacher Observation and identification. Performance by student Performance by student Observation, performance, critical thinking. Observation and analysis. Observation and analysis. Create different type of cicuits. EXPERIMENTS AND THEIR OBJECTIVES

  8. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATIGIES AND TASKS • I will allow students to work in groups with the given task to each member. • Provide opportunity to students work independently in observing things, compilation and noting down of results and conclusions. • I will ask student to give illustrations after conclusions with colouring and labeling.

  9. RESOURCES • The Text book of Science book and a well equipped laboratory with multimedia so to present a multi media presentation such as Internet sources. Instructional lecture on mitosis.ppt • Subject teachers of Science. • Use of MS Word to give work sheet, activity sheets or notes i.e. PHOTOSYNTHESIS QUIZ.doc • Power point presentation to show various clips of already uploaded experiments on web pages of reactivity of metals such as. photosynthesis.mpeg • Excel tool will be used to evaluate students performance and maintenance of practical records as well as by student to create different graphs, charts and tables. PRACTICAL ACTION.xlsx

  10. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I am thankful to • Headmistress for providing support and resources. • Science lab. Attendant for the collection of material. • Computer lab attendant and ICT teacher to provide sufficient multimedia resources. • Our Intel Facilitators for their kind instructions regarding the course. • Intel team who referred this course to make us aware of modern technique teaching.

  11. CONCLUSION • By implementing my newly acquired 21st century teaching approaches, students learning will be enhanced and will give motivation towards application and analysis of their knowledge. • It will also groom the creativity of student to develop their interest towards subject understanding. • It will develop the critical thinking approach to intermingle with modern learning skills.
