  1. Wars in Africa By: Rachel Lowery

  2. Wars Start because….. • Wars start for many reasons, just like every other continent in the world. One of the leading reasons that wars start in Africa is over food. Villages will attack other villages for food and then that village will attack other villages for food. The attacks start to form a chain, until the chain gets to long and forms a war.

  3. Weapons in War in Africa • Pompom- a small gun. Powerful, but light to carry. • Rifles • Knifes • In Africa, weapons aren’t as simple to find as in America. If you need a weapon in Africa, you could buy one for 6 dollars or trade it for an animal of some kind. These guns would be re-used from previous wars. Some dating back to World War I.

  4. African Children Involved in War • Many children are captured by soldiers. They are physically, sexually, and mentally abused by the soldiers. Some are even forced to fight. Hundreds of children are being abducted every day. A country that allows this is Sierra Leone. They rampage your village, kill your family and friends, and kill you or abduct you.

  5. Facts • About the Largest War in African History- • The largest war in Africa was The Second Congo War. • It started in August of 1998 and ended in 2003. • Killed 5.4 million people • Nicknames are “The World War of Africa” • It involved 8 African regions.
