  2. 1.Living thingsMove(most). Movement is to change location from one place to another. There are some exceptions to this rule. Plants don’t necessarily move, but they do exhibit reflexes. a. Phototropism: tendency of plants to move toward a light source. b. Carnivorous Movement: reflex movement of insect-eating plants. example: Venus Fly traps

  3. 2.Living thingsReproduce Reproduction is the production of young or offspring. The inherited information is encoded in DNA, the genetic material.

  4. Stimuli are substances in an organism’s environment that cause it to react in some way. Living things may respond to external stimuli by movement toward or away from a stimulus. 3.Living thingsrespond toStimuli.

  6. 5. Living things undergo Respiration. Respiration is the breaking down of food or nutrients to produce energy. Energy is the capacity to do work.

  7. 6. Living thingsExcrete wastes. Excretion is the removal of waste products. Waste products are produced after digestion or respiration.

  8. 7. Living things obtain Nutrients. Nutrients are minerals necessary for the daily life processes of organisms. Animals get nutrients from the food they eat. Plants get nutrients from carrying out photosynthesis.
