  1. CHARACTER / PERSONALITY TRAIT • Definition: • A ONE WORD ADJECTIVE that describes somebody’s personality.

  2. Getting to Know You. . . • We know what a person / character is like by what they: • SAY • DO • We also know what a character is like by WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT THEM.

  3. Let’s talk Motive • A person’s motive is what causes him / her to do or say something. • For instance: Santa Clause could be a bit of a stalker as “He sees you when you’re sleeping/ He knows when you’re awake.” • However his MOTIVE is good . .. He wants to be fair and give good little boys and girls a gift. • Therefore, we wouldn’t call him creepy or bad for watching you and breaking into your house. A mom yells at her child who ran in the road after a ball. Is the mom “mean”?

  4. Let’s talk Rikki-Tikki • Brainstorm a list of words you could use to describe Rikki’s PERSONALITY or CHARACTER. • Narrow your list to 2 words that describe Rikki MOST OF THE TIME. • These would be his character or personality traits.
