2. MM project status • NSW TDR approved by ATLAS CB • NSW TDR positively received by LHCC • With final acceptance of TDR the NSW project will become an official ATLAS project and we can ask for construction funds • MM project will move from R&D and prototyping to the final design and construction effort • (I)MoU needs to be worked out for the October ATLAS Week; it will define deliverables • A good time to review the MM management structure J. 3. MM project organization – a proposal MM project is part of the NSW project but should have its own management that works closely together wit NSW PL. • MM Project Leader (PL) • Oversees and organizes the MM activities and sets up a structure that ensures that all aspects are properly covered; direct link to NSW PL and Muon PL. The MM PL is also in charge of the MM resource management. • MM Technical coordinator • Oversees the work on MM layout, design, integration, and the organization of the detector construction and commissioning; direct link to the sTGC and NSW TCs. • MM Electronics coordinator • In charge of overseeing design, integration, procurement, and testing of the front-end electronics, trigger and readout systems; link to the ATLAS/Muon electronics coordinator. • MM Software coordinator • Coordinates all MM specific software activities. This should cover software for test beams, online software and DCS for ATLAS, simulation & offline software. MM project organization (J. Wotschack)

4. MM project organization – timeline • MM management could/should be set up during (and as part of) the discussion on the MoU, although nominations should be ad personam. • Coordination tasks are full-time (service) jobs • Search for candidates to start now • Target date: ATLAS Week in October • Start of term of office: 1 January 2014 J.
