A Needs Assessment By Completing this course you will be able to: • Course Objectives: • Given a list of choices students will be able to match one of the causes, and consequence of the Civil War. (SS.8.A.5.1) • Given a passage from the text, students will be able to interpreter supporting details for an answer from text. (SS.8.A.1.1) • Given charts, graphs, maps, photographs and timelines; political cartoons students will be able to analyze to determine the cause and effect. (SS.8.A.1.2) • Given a passage from the text, students will be able to differentiate fact from opinion. (SS.8.A.1.4) • Given a passage/chart, students will be able to differentiate primary from secondary sources. (SS.8.A.1.5) • Given a primary sources, students will be able to compare interpretations of key events and issues. (SS.8.A.1.6) • Given a passage/chart, students will be able to identify the constitutional provisions for establishing citizenship. (SS.8.C.1.1)

  3. Target Students • Analyze the learner • Students involved in the 8th grade U.S. History course range from ages 13 to 15 years old. There are a total of 22 students in the class 14 girls and 8 boys. High IQ students 12 and average IQ 10, multiple learning intelligence range within the class but the majority of them are interpersonal with a very few Logical-mathematical students. The students are taking the course as a mandatory course to complete middle school. • Students have the ability to read/understand maps and read on an 6th grade or better reading level. They know primary and secondary source. Also, have an understanding of bias within these sources.

  4. Multiple Intelligence Theory • The majority of Multiple Intelligence will be used during this lesson, to allow students to learn in diverse opportunities
