  1. The Need for and Types of Elderly Care Services

  2. Elderly care or aged care as it is commonly known is the activity that meets the exclusive and unique needs of senior citizens who find it difficult to manage their actions on their own.

  3. There are many components of aged care servicesthat are offered by trained providers in this field like assisted living, nursing homes, adult daycare, residential care, hospice care, and long term care. These differ from country to country. In many places like Australia, the United States, Canada, and the UK, the focus is on government-sponsored aged care services.

  4. Elderly care is primarily about providing services that fulfill both social and personal requirements, assisting the old and the infirm to age with dignity through help in carrying out their daily activities and getting the required health care. It can be expensive too as most of the elderly around the world do not have access to the paid elderly care sector.

  5. Types of aged care services • Government-funded elderly care services include residential care in aged care homes, in-home care in the house, and short-term respite care. Those not eligible can choose private care and pay in full for the services. The crucial part here is the in-home aged care where providers help the aged with a wide range of activities such as personal care, transport, shopping, social activities, and food.  • Retirement homes are good if a high level of monitored aged care is not required. The elderly can either buy a home in a retirement village that has a manager to look after the operations or pay the required fees and live in a center that is owned and managed by a non-profit organization or a private business.
