  2. Cardinal Planes of Motion Coronal (Frontal) Plane- Divides the body into two halves, the front of the body, and the back. Sagittal Plane- Divides the body into two halves straight down the midline splitting the body into left and right segments. Transverse Plane- Divides the body up into two halves around the waist line, splitting the body into a top and bottom half.

  3. Extension Extension- Straightening a joint to make the angle that the two connecting bones form larger.

  4. Flexion Flexion- Bending the joint that the two connecting bones create smaller.

  5. Adduction Adduction- Movement of a body part or limb towards the midline of the body.

  6. Abduction Abduction- Movement of a body part or limb away from the midline of the body.
