  2. Butte-These are like Mesas, but even smaller. Mesas-are like plateaus, only smaller. Canyon-A canyon is a deep, narrow valley with steep sides. Erosion-This word describes how water, wind, and ice slowly carry away soil, and rock. peak. R io G rande-this river f lows out of the R ocky mountains to form the border between the United States and Mexico. Great plains-These is in Arizona. R ocky Mountains- The R ocky Mountains tower over much of New Mexico. vast plains reach out into Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. Colorado Plateau-This Plateau is in Arizona.

  3. Most of the Region is a Desert As you get higher into the Rocky Mountains, It Gets colder Climate Eastern Texas and parts of Oklahoma, Get almost 40 inches of rain per year. As you get down into the Grand Canyon it gets hotter

  4. CULTURE Spanish settlers came to the southwest in 1540 COWBOYS WOULD WATCH THE CATTLE FOR RANCHERS the cattle drive was when cowboys drovecattle north. It ended when barbed wire was invented.

  5. ECONOMY CATTLE IS A BIG PRODUCTION IN THE SOUTHWEST TOURIST LIKE TO GO TO ADOBES AND HOGANS TOURISM ATTRACTS MUCH OF THE MONEY

  6. Major Tourist Attractions There are many major tourist attractions. These attractions include the Alamo, the Grand Canyon, Colorado river, Colorado plateau, Great Plains, Rio Grande, Coastal Plains, and the Painted Desert.
