  4. For once we agree with Michael Gove… • He visited Washington DC in 2011 and came back astonished to discover Primary school children are expected to read 50 books a year – he thinks we should set you that target too

  8. Last month education watchdog Ofsted said schools need to set aside more time for students to enjoy reading for pleasure.

  10. Some people think books have had their day…. But remember books were as exciting as Apps when the printing press was first invented…

  11. Reading used to be an activity of an educated few… • Now everybody can enjoy reading & things to do with books, anytime, anywhere.

  12. All ages & all nationalities enjoy ‘Harry Potter’

  13. But we still disagree with Michael Gove … • He believes you should read mainly to help you get higher marks in your exams…. • But we believe you should read mainly for the pleasure it gives you!

  14. There are 17,000 good books to take out in our library waiting for you… So there’s no excuse in 2014 not to enjoy getting lost in a good book! Set yourself a challenging target for 2014!
