  1. The Last Harvest Revelation 14

  2. Key Message: “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” (Revelation 14:15b)

  3. Revelation 14:6 • Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—

  4. the everlasting gospel • In what way is it everlasting? • Gospel means “good news” in what way is it good news? • If it is good news why do so many reject it or ignore it? • Notice it is for all people, not just for a certain select few (the elect) (limited atonement)

  5. Revelation 14:7 • saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.“ • What does it mean to fear God?

  6. Revelation 14:8 • And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." • What is Babylon? • To those who are caught up in the world it is time to come back to God. If you stay with the world you will likewise parish with the world

  7. Things of the world • When we talk about being caught up in the world’s fornication, what are things that Christians get caught up in? • What are some things that keep people from coming to God?

  8. Revelation 14:9-10 • Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.”

  9. Simple message is if you do not break free you will die • Isaiah 51:17, 21-22 Awake, awake! Stand up, O Jerusalem, You who have drunk at the hand of the LORD The cup of His fury; You have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling, And drained it out…Therefore please hear this, you afflicted, And drunk but not with wine. Thus says your Lord, The LORD and your God, Who pleads the cause of His people: "See, I have taken out of your hand The cup of trembling, The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it.

  10. Psalm 75:8 • For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, And the wine is red; It is fully mixed, and He pours it out; Surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth Drain and drink down.

  11. Revelation 14:11 • "And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name." • Notice this is everlasting • Isaiah 34:9-10 Its streams shall be turned into pitch, And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night or day; Its smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever.

  12. Revelation 14:12 • Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. • What must we be patient for?

  13. Revelation 14:13 • Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them." • In what way are the dead in Christ blessed? • Notice also that our works or deeds will follow us

  14. The Harvest of the Earth Revelation 14:14-20

  15. Revelation 14:14-16 • Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe." So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

  16. One like the Son of Man • Who is this? • Daniel 7:13, 14

  17. Judgment as a harvest • Joel 3:13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow—For their wickedness is great." • Matthew 13:24-30; 36-43 • The real question is who is being harvested? There are two here

  18. Revelation 14:17-18 • Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe."

  19. The harvest • It would appear that the wicked are taken here

  20. Revelation 14:19 • So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

  21. The grapes of wrath • Isaiah 63:3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. • Joel 3:13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow—For their wickedness is great."

  22. Revelation 14:20 • And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs. • Furlong is equal to one-eighth of a mile, or 220 yards or 660 feet or 40 rods or 10 chains

  23. God’s Judgment • Why do you think God delays in his judgment?
