Fasting • The Body is defiled by the in-take of foods that are not good for your health. • Daniel 1:8; Philippians 3:19; • The Soul is defiled by what we allow to enter through our ear and eye gates. • Matthew 15:18-20; Proverbs 4:20-23 • II Corinthians 6:14-18; 7:1 • Fasting addresses the spirit, soul & body

  3. Fasting Fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose. Fasting should be combined with prayer and meditation of the Word.

  4. 8 Reasons for Fasting • For healing or a miracle • For a tender touch of God in your life • For a life dream God can make possible • For a fresh encounter with God • For a greater sensitivity to the desires of God • For a friend or loved one that needs salvation • To break away from bondages • A desire to know God’s will for your life.

  5. 8 Advantages of Fasting • Re-evaluating your life • Losing weight • Worshiping God • Breaking bad habits • Growing closer to God, family & friends • Learning self-control • Repenting of sin • Purifying your body & soul

  6. Levels of Fasting • Total Fast – nothing is eaten or drunk • Full Fast – drink only liquids • Daniel Fast – eat no meats, no sweets, and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables. • 3-Day Fast – (a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or give up a least one item of food)

  7. Levels of Fasting • Partial Fast – is from 6:00 am – 3:00 pm or from sun up to sundown. You can select from three types of fasting – a Full Fast or give up a least one item of food. • Sacrificial Fast – giving up something other than food (TV, media, sports, hobbies, shopping, etc.).

  8. Accountability Be accountable to a support group Be accountable to at least one other person Conduct phone conversations Remember • Encourage one another • Do not condemn • Walk in love and mercy
