  1. Caesary Case Study

  2. About Myself I was born in Connecticut and moved to GA. My first video game was a Ninja Turtle game that played on the PC (I don’t even remember the title) After that I heavily got into RPG, Strategy, and puzzle games Good at Math I Love soda!
  3. Good ‘ole Warfare Caesary is Based off of the history of the roman empire, where the roman empire was subverted through several civil wars.
  4. Slightly Overpowered? Once Someone has decided to start playing this game, either through an ad or by word of mouth, players are given a few things. First, they are greeted by the “advisor” that explains the local layout as well as explains all of the buttons and whatnot. Second, they are given a 7 day “noob-protection” buff that allows their cities to be attackable (although they can’t attack other players as well) Third, as they are going through the tutorials, they are given various power-ups to “demonstrate” what they do.
  5. Keeping the player engaged This game uses real-time as a base for doing any sort of upgrading. E.g. It took 12 days to get the final upgrade of the main building. When you first join the game, the first building you make will only take 30 sec. This is to get the player moving along to other buildings and mechanics without them getting bored to early into the game. Once a player finishes a certain upgrade they have never done before they usually will get a quest completed and get a fancy reward for it. (No fancy stream of lights, but a good number of resources so the player can build the next building right away without even having to wait for the resources to be gathered) Once you get to the 5 hour point you usually have some power-ups to decrease the time. And finally once you get to the >1d or more, you don’t give up because you would lose all the buildings and upgrades you spent time to make! This is the process of both Limiting Gameplay and using Timed Re-engagement
  6. Quests and Free Stuff! As said earlier, once you generally spend time to learn/build a new upgrade you can access the reward through the quest system. They also use Daily quests to get the player “checking back in” daily. In one of these daily quests you get a zodiac goat, which is the only other way to get free stuff without purchasing gold. For one of these goats you can activate the “Wheel” and have a chance to win one of these power-ups.
  7. The Non-Free stuff If you tend to be very unlucky and just can’t get that thing you want from the wheel, you can always spend money for the gold to get what you want! An example of how this gold can work, on the tooltip of the picture you should see the “worth” of this item in gold. All items are non-refundable :P
  8. War is here! The biggest mechanic Ceasary shows is their battle system. Battle replay: every time you battle you can get detailed battle menus. Dogfight: Lets multiple people join the same battle! Heroes: Forces are lead by heroes which themselves can turn the tide of battle!
  9. Is it good? Ceasary is an easy game to both pick up and put down, without having to worry to much about when your offline. This game uses many mechanics that are found in multiple casual games to keep their players coming back. Unfortunately, this game requires for the player to be in some sort of guild because once your protection is gone, any loners are usually the first picked off by other players.
