  1. Choosing The Right Winch

  2. A Winch is a device designed to attract or lift the load through the wounded cable around a horizontal cylinder called "drum", or a rotating chain around "nut". Winch can be manual, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or has a combustion machine. • It is the removal and traction equipment found in the industrial sector such as metal workmanship and construction to lift and move heavy loads, in the maritime industry to lift the boat, in the automotive sector for towing vehicles in trailers, etc.

  3. Rov Winch & Specialty Winches

  4. How to choose a Winch? To find out which type of Winch should be chosen, you must specify the following points: • What Winch will use: Do you need to lift the load, move it horizontally or in the field tend? • In what sector it will be used? Winch can be used in various industries, such as the maritime and automotive industry. • What should your winch capacity be? What burden should be lifted or pulled? • What does the travel distance need to be? You must ensure that the drum where the traction device will change correctly sized and the length of the cable or the chain is sufficient. • You also have to take into account other criteria such as motor types. Winch can be electrical, hydraulic, combustion or manual. Generally, they are designed to rotate cables, ropes or circular chains throughout the width of the drum in a consecutive layer.

  5. How should your Winch be empowered? • Most winches are equipped with motors, but some manuals, especially when they are intended for occasional use or use in a difficult environment to connect to electricity networks. • There are four main ways to turn on Winch: electric motors, rov winch, combustion machines, hydraulic winch and manual drives. • Electric Winch can be divided into two categories: a connected motorbike and battery-powered motor, for example connected to a car or truck. Electric Winch is intended for intermittent use because they become very hot. We recommend that you use a winch equipped with a thermal fuse to avoid damage if the load is too heavy or if used too intensively. Also, select Winch with a higher capacity than you need to avoid heat. • If you choose a Winch that runs on the battery, make sure the battery you use is enough to turn it on. With a power supply of 12 volts, a winch can have a peak consumption of more than 400 amps. • Mooring winch which are powered by combustion machines are heavier and more expensive than electric winches. They generally have a 100% task ratio however, so they can be used continuously. • Hydraulic winchis connected to a hydraulic circuit that moves the drum. Their assignment ratio is also 100% and they generally have a very high load capacity. But the hydraulic system must adapt well to this use: hydraulic winch can require pressure of up to 160 bars and a flow rate of up to 60 liters per minute (L / min). Manual Winch is used for lighter loads. They are easily arranged because they do not need connection to power source.
