  1. How to choose the training provider to easily get Truck Licence in NSW? If you are considering training to operate a forklift truck, there are various essential elements to the practice for you to consider before you go to apply for a truck licence in NSW. When choosing a training provider, follow the following procedures: Ensure that the course meets the standards laid down in the codes and directives issued by the Health & Safety Executive in Australia. Make sure that the legal training is provided whereby trainer or training firm makes the legal position very clear. This is because, the rule says that untrained personnel cannot operate any type of truck and cannot get license. Choose a training provider or the training providing firm that is legally accredited to a body recognized by the government.

  2. Find out which type of training you need before starting the training. As a beginner or novice, you will need to do a full five-day training course and pass a test to receive your first licence.  There are many different types of trainings to choose from, and each has its characteristics suitable for the environment in which they are used. Some common types of lift trucks you can learn are; counterbalance, reach, side loader, telescopic handler, pedestrian stand on, and narrow aisle. By the end of your training course, you should feel confident in the naming of all the main components, carry out pre-shift inspection, and clearly understand the importance of these checks. You should understand the limits of your forklift as defined by the manufacturer and be able to operate the fork lift within these limits. A typical training course will contain both theory and practical modules. The theory side will cover all the truck's components and hydraulics and protect health and safety in the workplace and your responsibilities.

  3. The practical side will be a hands-on experience of operation. You will be within a center with various racking containing pallets. You will learn how to safely move the pallets from one set of raking to another of varying heights and widths. On the right course, you will have various types of loads, and your maneuvering area will be adjusted throughout the time to allow for some of the situations you may come across in your working day. A practical and theory test must be passed before a licence is issued and it is mandatory for all. Your licence will cover you for the type of forklift you did your course on, so for example, if you learned on a counterbalance truck, this does not allow you to operate a reach truck. To gain multiply licences you need to attend conversion courses for each new truck you require. Once you have done a five-day novice course and passed, you will need a 2-day conversion course.
