  2. Weather and Climate • Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a specific place over a relatively short period of time • E.g. Partly cloudy, heavy downpour in the afternoon • Climate is the average atmospheric condition over a specific place over a considerably long period of time (at least 30 years) • E.g. Japan has four seasons, Antarctica has short summer and long winter, Singapore is hot and humid

  3. Elements of weather • Temperature • Relative humidity • Precipitation • Wind When we way there Is a change in weather, we are referring to changes in some of these elements of weather

  4. The Atmosphere • Layer of air which surrounds the Earth • Mixture of gases, water vapour and dust particles. • Serves as an important function of protecting the Earth from overheating in the day and losing too much heat at night • Sub-divided into different layers.
