According to Jeremy Refkins, Societies have witness growth and progress When there had been developments in transport and communication systems.
This world is heading towards a third industrial revolution if we make a trend of changes in the last 10 years. As a result there would be many jobs in africa
Artificial intelligence includes machine learning, reasoning and self correction. In order to Make AI successful, artificial intelligence machines are trained to take inputs and behave like humans.
Most of the AI systems are trained in developed countries and hence they may not function properly in Africa.
Since most of the artificial intelligence data is compiled in Western countries, African people and their inputs are ignored. This is a bias by the people involved in the development of AI systems.
Therefore, Africa is at the risk to be left behind in the AI revolution, since the AI machines are catering to the problems of western world which are not customized according to the needs of Africa.
What should be our approach?Africans need to take lead and generate more AI data by themselves and upload it online.
Africans should also be vigilant that these AI systems shouldn’t be used be rulers and dictators against the general public as being done in China.
The UN body should step in and regulate the new technologies for the good future of African continent and mankind as a whole.
