  2. Exhibition industry in Vietnam • Verysmall in scale and is not proportioned to the development of a market - oriented economy. Its infrastructure is inadequate and poorly equipped.

  3. Exhibition centers • There are some existing exhibition centers such as • Giang Vo National Fair and Exhibition Center in Hanoi, • the Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi, • the Van Ho Exhibition Center in Hanoi • HIECC (JV of Pico) in Ho Chi Minh City

  4. Organizers and Contractors • Exhibition organizers: • VCCI – EXPO • VIETCHAM EXPO • VINEXAD • VEFAC • VITEX • FTP • International Contractors with office in Vietnam • PICO for decoration • KINGSMEN for decoration • Translink for freight • Local exhibition contractorsare emerging

  5. Foreign Exhibition Organizers • Most int’l exhibitions are by Hong Kong exhibitions organizers, to name a few major exhibitions: • CP Exhibition (Hong Kong) – since 1990 organized Textile and Garment Industry, Oil & Gas Exhibition • Adsale (Hong Kong) – since early 90s,for Telecom and construction • Top Repute (Hong Kong) – for Leather and Shoes • Paper communication (Hong Kong) – now has five machinery exhibitions in 2003 alone • IDG – for Computer • Organizer from other countries has also increased their present in Vietnam

  6. SARS • Since April this year SARS has occurred in some countries in Asia, North America and because of it, big fairs and exhibition scheduled to be held in Vietnam were cancelled thus bringing bad effects to the whole economy of many countries. • CP has postponed their Saigon Motor show originally in July 2003 to 2004. Top Repute and Paper Communication also postpone their May and June exhibitions • We are now recovering from that awful disease and replanting a lot of international and national exhibition

  7. Vietnam Exhibition Association • The founding of Exhibition Association in Vietnam now is not only a timely decision but also necessary forgathering the common efforts of all exhibition organizers for a better management and handling of exhibition industry in Vietnam. The main aims of this Association is supported by over 100 exhibition companies and related organizations in many cities and they are looking forward to the forming of Vietnam Exhibition Association soon.
