  2. Rules for Communication • Verse 25 - Be honest

  3. 1 Corinthians 2:11a For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?

  4. Truth is always right. Deceit is always wrong. Honesty is more than not lying. It is the presence of truth.

  5. Many types of dishonesty • Outright deceit, falsehood • Conflict between words and body language • Disguising the message • Concealment, Genesis 31:26-27

  6. Genesis 31:26-27 Then Laban said to Jacob, "What have you done by deceiving me and carrying away my daughters like captives of the sword? 27. "Why did you flee secretly and deceive me, and did not tell me so that I might have sent you away with joy and with songs, with timbrel and with lyre;

  18. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, `You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, `You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

  23. Unwholesome Words… • Attack character • Hinder growth • And grieve the Spirit

  24. Colossians 4:5-6 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Edifying words… show wisdom, have appeal, & address solutions

  26. I Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

  27. Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding produces favor, But the way of the treacherous is hard.

  28. Communicating biblically is part of “life and godliness.” It starts with submitting to the word of God.
