It involves ensuring that the architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical/HVAC, electrical, and plumbing) services of a building are working together efficiently and effectively. Multidisciplinary BIM Coordination Steps 1.Establish clear roles and responsibilities It is important to ensure that all team members have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the BIM coordination process. This can involve defining specific roles, such as BIM manager or BIM coordinator, and assigning tasks accordingly. 2.Model placement Due to the fact that even a small amount of error margin between two service models could result in inaccurate data about the issues, having accurate models is quite important. The method of checking the placement of the models in relation to one another varies depending on the software that you are utilizing; however, programs such as Revit provide you with coordinates, a project base point, and model linking, amongst other things that assist with the accurate placement of the models. 3.Set up a collaborative platform In order to facilitate effective BIM coordination, it is important to set up a platform that allows all team members to collaborate and share information in real time.
