The G1 data center provides colocation, cloud, managed IT, and cybersecurity services for storing and processing data and applications across various use cases, including AI models and enterprise applications. This marks the company's fifth facility in the country, following similar investments in states like Maharashtra. The facility boasts 350 racks. Darshan Hiranandani, co-founder and Chairman of Yotta, expressed pride in supporting the Gujarat government's vision, citing GIFT City as a leading platform for global businesses to establish a presence in India.
The facility has the potential to serve as a data embassy, allowing stored data to be subject to the laws and regulations of the home country. This ensures data sovereignty, even when stored in India, according to the statement. Shankar Trivedi, a senior vice president at Nvidia Global Field Operations, mentioned during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit that Nvidia is collaborating with Tata Group and Reliance Industries to establish data centers. Trivedi emphasized the need for scalable data centers for sovereign generative AI, predicting that generative AI will have a widespread impact in the future.
