How to Preserve Wine
Have you ever opened a bottle of wine, took one sip and immediately realised that it’s gone off? It’s highly likely that the wine wasn’t preserved properly. Read on for some tips on how to keep your wine preserved so that you don’t need to throw a wasted bottle out again. There are five key points to remember when achieving long-term preservation of your wine. The first point is to maintain a constant temperature. The ideal temperature for long-term cellaring of all varieties is 11 degrees. Ideal humidity is also important. Liebherr wine cellars maintain a humidity of between 50 to 80%.
Perfect air quality is important. This is achieved by the activated charcoal filters fitted within our wine cellars and the use of untreated beechwood shelves. UV protection is also important to avoid the discoloration of wine and of labels. Tinted double glazed doors will help prevent interference from UV rays. To avoid disrupting your wine, it's best to reduce the vibration. This is achieved through the use of our mounted compressors.
