Definition and Classification of Terminologies in Environment Agriculture
Organic agriculture Biological agriculture Natural agriculture Environmentally conserving agriculture Environmentally friendly agriculture Sustainable agriculture Ecological agriculture Green food Terminologies in environment agriculture
Environment agriculture • Economically efficient agriculture that assures the stable production and supply of safe agricultural products and preserves the environment by harmonizing it with agriculture • The most inclusive terminology
Environmentally compatible agriculture • Agriculture that utilizes the developed agricultural • technologies harmonizing them with the environment to minimize the side-effects of chemical agriculture and • decrease in production
Low input agriculture • Agriculture that utilizes integrated pest management (IPM) • and integrated nutrient management (INM) to minimize input of chemicals
Precision agriculture • Agriculture that utilizes geographic information system • (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) to precisely control the input of chemicals and energy
Environmentally friendly agriculture • Agriculture that utilizes environmentally-friendly methods • such as soil improvement and non-use of chemicals • to minimize environmental pollution
Organic agriculture • Agriculture that applies only organic materials and minerals • to enrich the soil and that utilizes biological and physical methods to control plant diseases and insects
Natural agriculture • Agriculture that utilizes self-made composts, aboriginal • enzymes and microorganisms and that does not apply tillage, • pruning nor chemical fertilizers and pesticides
Environmentally conserving agriculture • Agriculture that links crop production with livestock farming for reducing environmental loads to sustain the ecosystem
Local circulation agriculture • Agriculture that links crop production with livestock farming in a region to utilize crop residuals and manures as animal feed and compost, respectively
Social circulation agriculture • Agriculture that links livestock farming and/or organic • fertilizer production in a certain region with crop • production and/or residual-feed production in other regions • to make a large-scale circulation of bio-materials • domestically or internationally
Utilization of Spent Mushroom Compost as a Growing Medium for Organic Transplant Production
Objectives • To examine the feasibility of recycling the Spent Mushroom Compost (SMC) for organic transplant production • To develop new growing medium for organic transplant production • To investigate the growth and quality of organically produced transplants of several vegetables
Materials • SMC left over from a “Baeckilsongi” mushroom factory of the Pulmuone Takara Ltd. • Hgpsizygus marmoreus
Soybean hull Rice bran Corn cob Sawdust Ingredients of mushroom compost
Decomposition • A compost maker • Microbial decomposers
Mixing SMC & organic media • Other organic media : Peat Moss & Cocopeat PM: Peat Moss CP: Cocopeat L: leached D: decomposed
Study in Japan • To study environment agriculture in Japan • To study natural enzymes & efficient-microorganism • for organic culture
Expected publications • Journal of the Korean Society for Horticultural Science • Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science • HortScience
