Step 1: Earning of Private Certificate Earning of the Private Pilot certificate is the first step towards becoming the airline pilot. You will start with the single-engine plane and then you would focus on the training the fundamentals and this will set the foundation for the more advanced ratings and the certificates too. Step 2: Multi-Engine and the Instruments Ratings After you become the private pilot then the next step would be to earn the multi-engine and the instrument rating. This instrument rating is allowing the pilot to fly under the rules of Instrument Flight in all the kinds of weather. This multi-engine rating will add the privilege to operate the faster and the larger aircraft.
