Board of Trustees • Purpose • Share accountability in achieving goals and fulfilling the initiatives of Alpha Tau Omega. In turn, the chapter will become directly accountable to the board of trustees. As a result of the partnerships ATO has created with colleges and universities, local communities and businesses, and parents of members, it will be natural to expect these boards to be made up of alumni, professors, business people, community leaders, and parents. Board of Trustees • Duties • 1+ Meeting per month • Assist the NHQ CEO in the discharge of his duties • Attend chapter meetings & ceremonies frequently • Council and advise the officers and members of the chapter Alpha Tau Omega

NHQ Plan • Matt Arnold’s Summary • Resolve the debt. Identify those who owe and go directly after them. • Find alumni support. First through personal contacts, and then through formal contact via the NHQ. • Send staff to be on campus to for a 4-6 weeks to recruit 20-30 member group to be considered a colony. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Colony will work closely with the National Fraternity staff and local board of trustees (alumni advisory board) for 9-12 months to meet the requirements of chartering. Most importantly, reaching the 45 member level. NHQ Staff will visit on a monthly basis. • Recharter. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Success Stories • University of Texas. Closed due to hazing in 1988. Rechartered in 1992. Won true merit in 1994, 1995 and 1996 with several honorable mentions in other years. Had never won true merit previously in its 100+ year history. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Success Stories ( con’t ) • Baylor University. Recharted in 2005. Won 14 awards at 2006 ATO National Congress including True Merit, Thomas Arkle Clark(Top ATO Undergrad) and runner-up for top chapter award. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Success Stories ( con’t ) • University of Maryland. Rechartered in 1999. • True Merit in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Never won True Merit prior to rechartering. • 2005 National IFC Award of Distinction. ( All fraternities / all chapters ) • Top chapter award in 2006. • 80+ members. • $125,000.00 operating budget. NHQ Plan • Success Stories (con’t) • Texas Tech University. Suffered a fate very similar to Theta Sigma. Chapter membership shrunk to the point of non-existance. Recolonized in 2006. Has already reached it 45 member goal. Has shown a very strong presence in the Texas Tech Greek system. Has established its BOT and has begun a search for a new house. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Member Identification • The recruitment staff will be VERY choosy in who they select to be a part of Theta Sigma. • ATO is the Leadership Fraternity. Expect the recruitment process to focus on campus leaders. • Student government. • Student athletes. • Those who hold office in other campus organizations. Alpha Tau Omega
NHQ Plan • Member Identification( con’t ) • Contact University to identify potential candidates. • Contact Sororities for potential candidates. • Candidates MUST have a high GPA. • Candidates MUST be able to prove financial solvency. Alpha Tau Omega
