JBSC Non-NegotiableS To ensure consistency and continuity across the college, we have some non-negotiables. These are all underpinned by our school priorities. JBSC School Priorities are: • High Expectations and Authentic Relationships. • Inquiry Focused Teaching. • Consistent Learning Protocols. • Consistent Teaching Protocols.
JBSC Non-Negotiables - Uniform • Students will wear the uniform in the way it was intended. • Sport uniform, including jacket, to only be worn during Phys. Ed., Dance or Drama classes. • Sports shorts to be worn for sport (not leggings or other shorts) • Shoes to be completely black during normal classes. • Hoodies are not to be worn under regular uniform. • Boys have shirts tucked in. • Girls wear their skirts at the length they were purchased. • If students are in not in correct uniform are unable to changed, they will remain in their Community space for breaks.
JBSC Non-Negotiables – Positive Behaviour • Positive praise for effortto be consistently given. • Positive behaviour by students regularly acknowledged. • If possible, common language to be used. • JBSC Pillars – Opportunity, Excellence, Success and Innovations. • JBSC Agreed Values – Inquiry, Respect, Aspiration and Resilience. • Achiever points to be regularly awarded for positive behaviours and entered into SEQTA.
JBSC Non-Negotiables – Negative Behaviour • Students are to drink only water in classrooms. • No food to be eaten in classrooms. • No chewing gum at school. • Head phones are not to be seen unless being used for a teacher directed learning activity. • Phones are not to be seen at all in class unless being used for a teacher directed learning activity. • Non-educational games are not to be played on iPads during class time.
JBSC Non-Negotiables - Classroom • Teacher to greet the students at the door at the beginning of the lesson, explaining what resources they will need for the lesson before directing them in. • Students to enter the classroom in an orderly manner. • Bags are placed in the boxes at the front of the classroom. • Learning Intentions and Success Criteria to be visible to the students at the beginning of the lesson, explained to the students and then revisited during the lesson. • Word walls and Curiosity walls to be visible in each classroom. • Any issues with buildings or ICT to be reported immediately. • Rooms to be left tidy at the end of the day. • Chairs stacked at the end of the day.
