New Air Stair Truck Inspection - Pictures and Details

The Fleet Management Team conducted a final inspection of the new air stair truck in Montreal. Check out the pictures of the truck and its features. The truck will arrive at DFW in late August. Graphics and radios will be installed, and training will be conducted before it is put into service.

  1. PUBLIC SAFETY – FIRE SERVICES On August 8th, 9th, and 10th the Fleet Management Team for the new air stair truck made a trip to the factory in Montreal to conduct a final inspection of the truck. The following slides are a few pictures of the truck during the inspection. The truck will arrive at DFW during the week of the 27th of August. If you have any questions about the truck you can contact Sergeant Johansen or myself. After the truck arrives here, the graphics and radios will need to be installed and training conducted prior to placing the truck in service. Sample Picture

  2. This picture of the passenger side shows the stairs lowered to travel height. Two storage compartments are under the stairs and have roll-up doors which are open in the picture.

  3. The truck chassis is a 2008 Model Ford F-550 4X4. In this picture you can see the front, middle and rear stabilizers deployed. Stabilizers

  4. This is a view of the platform control pedestal. The yellow hose reel is an air line for air tools such as the Spaat Drill. Forward looking camera

  5. This is a view of the stairs at partial elevation. The stairs will reach the door sill of all aircraft currently flying into DFW and the lower deck of the A-380. The platform is 100” wide.

  6. Each step is lighted and has an aggressive non slip surface. The stairs are 60” wide. The bottom step is shown here in the down position for climbing the stairs. It folds up over the next step for travel. Back-up camera
