  10. Turbine Applications

  11. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Eliminate Visible Emissions The system was designed and manufactured for the lube oil console of a GE 7B gas turbine. This is a peaking turbine located in Lincoln, Nebraska. During operation, there were visible oil mist emissions into the surrounding atmosphere. The previous electrostatic precipitator was not effective in capturing the polluting mist. After a site visit and several discussions with the plant’s Management, we provided a custom built solution. We designed the system to fit directly into their existing space and to connect to their installed vent piping. A davit lifting arm was provided for easy lid removal and filter maintenance. A galvanized skid was included to withstand the harsh outdoor environment. • Design Flow: 1500 cfm/2550 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Centrifugal Fan

  12. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Eliminate Visible Emissions The system was designed and manufactured for the lube oil consoles of (3) GE Frame 3 gas turbines. The location is a base load power plant in Dominion Cove, Maryland. During operation, there were visible oil mist emissions vented into the surrounding atmosphere. The turbine packages were not equipped with oil mist eliminators. Each turbine package had three vents (lube oil sump and two bearing housings) that were tied into each Solberg system. We designed a piping and valve system to regulate the vacuum levels at each point. • Design Flow: 750 cfm/1275 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O/-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Centrifugal Fan

  13. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Environmental Compliance This system was designed and manufactured for the lube oil console of an Alstom GT24 Gas Turbine. The power plant Operator experienced severe visible oil mist emissions and were in violation of an internal environmental audit. Solberg retro-fit (3) turbines with new oil mist eliminators to stop the problem. Custom leg supports were added to fit into their existing space on top of the console • Design Flow: 300 CFM/510 m3/h • -Required Vacuum: -2 to -3” H2O/-25.4 to -76.2 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower

  14. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Protect The Surrounding Environment This system was designed and manufactured for the turbine lube oil console of an Alstom GT11NM gas turbine. The turbine is indoors, and the excessive emissions from the previous electrostatic precipitator were a health and safety hazard for plant employees. The Solberg system eliminated this problem with a high efficiency filter. Also, due to frequent electrical storms in Florida and power loss at the plant, the Operator required a redundant fan to ensure 24 hour operation. Solberg integrated two fans into the package design. • Design Flow: 750 cfm/1275 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O/ -25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Redundant Centrifugal Fans

  15. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Eliminate Visible Emissions Two systems were designed and manufactured for the lube oil consoles of (2) of a GE LM1600 gas turbine. The power plant is located near UCLA hospital in Los Angeles, California, and visible oil mist emissions are closely regulated. The Solberg system eliminated the visible emissions and provided a clean surrounding environment. To simplify maintenance, a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) was included to automatically control vacuum in the lube oil console. • Design Flow: 200 cfm/340 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1” to -4” H20/-25.4 mmH2O to -101.6 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Centrifugal Blower

  16. Compressor Applications

  17. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Harsh Operating Conditions This system was designed and manufactured for a new GE Turbo Expander destined for a petrochemical refinery. Special features include: Electro-polished stainless construction for harsh conditions 2. Proprietary internal valve design to automatically control system vacuum. • Design Flow: 30 cfm/50 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O/-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower

  18. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Reduce Emissions Improve Operating Efficiency This system was designed and manufactured for the lube oil console of a Cooper TA-11000 Turbo Compressor. The Operator of a gas compression station in Texas experienced excessive oil mist emissions from their existing mist eliminator. The mist would condense in the atmosphere and fall to the ground leaving an environmental mess. Prior to Solberg, the Operator used a compressed air eductor system to create a venturi and create vacuum in the console. This process wasted valuable compressed air that was needed for other plant operations. Solberg retro-fit a new system for two compressors on site. The result was a clean surrounding environment. Also, by using a blower to create vacuum they were able to conserve their valuable compressed air. • Design Flow: 15 cfm/26 m3/hr • Required Vacuum-1 to -2” H2O/-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower

  19. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Compact Size This system was designed and built for the lube oil console of an Atlas Copco Turbo Expander. The Customer required a compact system with a centrifugal fan vacuum source. Solberg located the fan on top of the filter canister to minimize the overall width of the package. • Design Flow: 15 CFM/25.5 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O/-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Centrifugal Fan

  20. Reciprocating Engine Applications

  21. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Landfill Gas to Energy These systems are designed for both Caterpillar 3516 and 3520 engines used in landfill gas to energy applications. Landfill Operators and Engineering firms specify crankcase oil mist eliminators to eliminate blow-by emissions and maintain negative pressure in the crankcase. • Single Engine • Design Flow : 80 cfm/136 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -.5” H2O/-12.7 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower • Dual Engine • Design Flow: 120 cfm/204 m3/h • Required Vacuum: -.5” H2O-12.7 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower

  22. Solberg Vacuum Assisted Oil Mist Eliminator Maintain Crankcase Pressure/Eliminate Visible Emissions This system was developed for the crankcase vent of a Wartsila 18V 200SG natural gas engine. A peaking power plant Operator in California had issues with their previous mist eliminator. It was undersized and could not handle the emissions. Also, the limited capacity caused back pressure in the engine which resulted in seal leaks. Solberg retro-fit (8) engines with new oil mist eliminators. These systems incorporated a re-circulation piping design to maintain the engines natural crankcase pressure without manual adjustments • Design Flow: 35 cfm/50 m3/h • Required Vacuum: 0” H20/0 mmH20 (maintain existing crankcase pressure) • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower

  23. • Design Flow: 15 cfm/26 m3/hr • Required Vacuum: -1 to -2” H2O/-25.4 to -50.8 mmH2O • Vacuum Source: Regenerative Blower
