Physical Appearance • The Cro-Magnon were one of the first humans to look like modern humans. • They had pointed chins, and a smaller jaw, teeth, and nose than modern humans do. • Their average height of a Cro-Magnon was 4 to 5 feet.
Fire • The Cro-Magnons were able to make fire. They used fire for warmth, for cooking, to scare away predators, to hunt, and for light. • They created a spark by banging stones together. • They kept the fire burning by throwing in wood from the forest.
Tools • The Cro-Magnon used fire, spears, arrowheads, hammers, and many more tools like the ones listed. They used the tools for skinning animals, hunting, digging, cooking, building, and more. • They used tusks and bones from animals to create a lot of tools. Antlers and horns were used to make tools like harpoons, and stones were used to make arrowheads.
Ceremoniesand Religion • They had ceremonies for a boy becoming a man, and they had funerals for the dead.There were also ceremonies if the Cro-Magnons had a good hunt. • Instruments were played during ceremonies. Also, if they did not need to hunt or gather food, they would celebrate. • The religious leader led the ceremonies to honor the dead and to have a happy after life.
Clothing • Cro-Magnons made clothing from animal hides. • They decorated their clothing with stones and dye from plants.
