Safety Precautions • Horseplay, pranks and mischief are not tolerated!
If there is a fire in the classroom smother it with a blanketIf your clothes catch on fire DO NOT RUN!
If you spill chemicals on yourself, wash it off immediately !
Turn gas jets off when you are throughClean up after yourself!
Do not eat chemicals, don’t put your fingers in your mouth, wash hands after handling chemicals • EAT THIS DON’T EAT THIS
When using a bunsen burner………. • Never leave it unattended • Always wear goggles- don’t look into vessels of boiling liquid • Point test tubes away from yourself and others when heating
Other heating tips….. • Don’t put cold water in a hot piece of glass ware • Be careful- glassware won’t LOOK hot • Heat glassware slowly- move test tubes into and out of the flame
When testing odors……… • Do not stick your face in the container and sniff • Waft the odors
Follow waste disposal instructions Don’t just throw things in the garbage- listen to what the teacher tells you to do with it
