Many businesses use these pressure cooker type of steam sterilizers for decontamination and sterilization of instruments. These slides and video give the details and suggested uses for them. These are my opinions as a Surgical Tech and not of the companies involved.

  1. Stainless Steel “Pressure Cooker” Autoclaves Compared 4.7 Gal (17.8L), Stove Top Steam Sterilizers OLizee vs Orion Motor Tech Presented by: www.AutoclaveReviews.com

  2. Similar Features of Both Sterilizers • Pressure and temperature gauge at top. • Electric heating element to increase speed. • 110V electrical • 11” diameter interior (Orion is taller, though.) • Lids are secured with six thumb screws. • Add some water to the bottom, then steam is produced by heating on top of stove and with submerged thermal tube. OLizee Orion Motor Tech Check Out My Full Write Up! http://autoclavereviews.com/orion-motor-tech-olizee-autoclave/

  3. The Difference Between these Autoclaves Inner Sizes: • OLizee - 11” diameter, 9” height; • Orion - 11” diameter, 11.5” height. The only difference I’ve found from research is that Orion’s height is 2.5” taller. The reviews of quality are close. If you can find the right price, go with the larger sterilizer!

  4. Businesses that Use these Sterilizers This is my Surgical Tech opinion about stove top autoclaves. I would limit them to decontamination of small instruments or gear. Surgical and dental gear should be sterilized in an electric steam autoclave. Like I said, just my opinion. It’s up to you!. Please keep in mind patient safety in terms of knowing your instruments are sterile from a proper machine. • Small clinics • Health stations • Research Labs • Tattoo artists • Barbers • Nail salons • Animal groomers • Dental offices • Surgical clinics • Operating rooms Not Suggested by AutoclaveReviews.com

  5. Downfalls to Stove Top Autoclaves Food for Thought: • Six thumbscrews to secure and remove the lid. • You must monitor the sterilization cycle using the temp and pressure gauge. • Must be allowed to cool after instruments are processed. If your office or business needs something more, there are many. Models like Scican’s Statim or Tuttnauer’s Valueklave 1730 are the next step up. You will be looking at more money, though, into the $2000s and beyond. www.AutoclaveReviews.com
