  3. The First Founders • 1948 – Frank Hooge • 1949 – Elmer Gullion • 1951 – Joe Vella • 1953 – Fred Null • 1954 – L. D. Woosley • 1955 – Bob Hughes • 1956 – Richard Schott • 1958 – Les Funk And Others

  4. Thirty – Forty couples in following years • Very fruitful ministries • Three key elements • Aftereffects of World War II • Use of the English Language due to American occupation of the Philippines 1898-1946 • Unique blessings of God

  5. Biblical Principle 2 Tim 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

  6. Example of one Missionary’s lifetime ministry • L.D. Woosley was one of the pioneers, but certainly not the only one. • Bethany Baptist Church – Founded in 1954 by Joe Vella. • Woosley became leader late 1954 when Vella left field due to health problems in his family.

  7. Major building constructed 1956

  8. Bible College added about 1959

  9. 2 3 1 Bible College 27 Mission Churches began to sprout Bethany Baptist Church

  10. Other missionaries did similar work • Over 25 Bible Colleges and Institutes among our missionaries • Over 1700 Churches • In the meantime ….

  11. Population grew from 18 Million to 80 Million + • We are still behind the curve • More work remains • Filipino vision is increasing

  12. Simultaneously • Over 400 Christian Schools • New need for a Christian Liberal Arts College • Bethany started planning in 1997-98 • Classes Started in 1999

  13. Bethany financed and built a building for the college

  14. L D Woosley Bethany Colleges • Dedicated Sept. 1, 1999 • Would have been the 85th birthday of Dr. L.D. Woosley • He went to Heaven Oct 2, 1990 • Much of the present work was done by those he trained.

  15. Bethany Baptist Bible College • In operation over 35 years • 180 Students in 2000 • Will become a school within the L.D.Woosley Bethany Colleges

  16. Simultaneously • God began to call Filipino Missionaries to other Asian Nations • By 2000 there are 58 Missionaries • Going to 17 Asian Nations

  17. L D Woosley Bethany Colleges has degree granting status from Philippine Government • Bachelors Degrees • 16 major fields of study approved • Including Bachelors in Ministry • Concentration in Missions

  18. School of Missions planned • Training Asians to Evangelize Asia • New wave of National Missionaries • Trained by BBFI Missionaries • To replicate what has been done in the Philippines

  19. American Missionaries Become • Facilitators • Mentors • Resource locaters • Advisors • Trainers • Encouragers

  20. Filipino missionaries can go where Americans have great difficulty • The Harvest is great • The laborers are available • The resources are developing • The challenge is now!

  21. The Filipino Christians have learned well • They are ready to do for others what America did for them 50 years ago. • They are ready for advanced training. • They need your prayers and training resources.
