  1. All You Need to Know about IGCSE Curriculum IGCSE stands for International Common Certificate of Secondary Education. Around 20 years back, the IGCSE curriculum was started by Cambridge and now, it has become one of the most recognized programs. Whatever IGCSE subject a student chooses, they will get a qualification recognized across the world. Age Group The IGCSE curriculum is ideal for students in the age group of 14 to 16 years. Qualification Cambridge IGCSE assessment is taken at the end of the course. This includes written oral, course, and practical assessments. This opens up opportunities for students to showcase their learning, especially when English is not their first language. There are many themes to choose from. Grades are determined using the internationally recognized grades A* to G. Appropriate guidelines are given to explain the standard of achievement of all the grades. The examinations for this are held twice a year in June and November respectively. The results come in August and January respectively. Previous papers with marking schemes for all subjects are easily available.

  2. Subject Groups Students need to take a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 14 subjects. Group 1: Languages (1st Language, 2nd Language, Foreign Language, etc) Group 2: Humanities and Social Sciences (English Literature, Geography, History, etc) Group 3: Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc) Group 4: Mathematics (Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, etc) Group 5: Creative, Technical & Vocational (Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Studies, Music, etc) Extended Curriculum IGCSE takes into account that every student learns at a different pace. Thus, most of the papers have the option to follow the extended syllabus. Students who are more advanced academically may choose to take extended courses and take a supplementary paper alongside the core. This will help the students to become more advanced academically and professionally trained. The mains only give an overview of the subjects and are followed by the students who can get grades from C to G. Anyway, students who have the ability to obtain grades from A to E study additional subjects and follow the extended curriculum. Which is graded from A* to E. Students who fail to obtain a grade G for the core course or grade E for the extended course are not awarded a grade (grade U). How can IGCSE Curriculum benefit? IGCSE has high academic standards with a practical approach to learning. The extended curriculum provides in-depth knowledge of a subject which is very beneficial in the long run. While there are many certificates that a student can choose from at the secondary level, the IGCSE curriculum has a multicultural approach and that is why it is good for students.
