pdgfa pdgfa Official Full Name Official Full Name platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide Background Background The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family. The four members of this family are mitogenic factors for cells of mesenchymal origin and are characterized by a motif of eight cysteines. This gene product can exist either as a homodimer or as a heterodimer with the platelet-derived growth factor beta polypeptide, where the dimers are connected by disulfide bonds. Studies using knockout mice have shown cellular defects in oligodendrocytes, alveolar smooth muscle cells, and Leydig cells in the testis; knockout mice die either as embryos or shortly after birth. Two splice variants have been identified for this gene Synonyms Synonyms PDGFA; platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide; PDGF1; PDGF-A; PDGF A-chain; platelet-derived growth factor alpha chain; Platelet- derived growth factor subunit A; PDGF subunit A; Platelet-derived growth factor A chain; PDGF-1; OTTHUMP00000199955; OTTHUMP00000199956; platelet-derived growth factor alpha isoform 2 preproprotein Recombinant Recombinant Proteins Proteins Cell & Tissue Lysates Cell & Tissue Lysates Cat.# Cat.# Product name Product name Source (Host) Source (Host) Species Species Tag Tag Price Price PDGFA-514M Recombinant Mouse PDGFA Protein, His-tagged Yeast Mouse His +Inquiry PDGFA-563H Recombinant Human PDGFA Protein (Ser87-Thr211), His-tagged Yeast Human His +Inquiry PDGFA-923C Recombinant Canine PDGFA Protein (Ser87-Arg196), His-tagged Yeast Canine His +Inquiry
