  1. Blue Eye Immigration RURAL RENEWAL STREAM

  2. OVERVIEW The Rural Renewal Stream addresses current labor shortages and skill shortages in rural Alberta towns while also assisting newcomers in settling in. This stream needs a community to apply for community designation to the Government of Alberta. This is a community-driven stream. Once recognized, the community works with employers to attract, recruit, and retain newcomers by giving information about settlement services. This may include housing, education, health care, and services like as language instruction.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS • An application will only be considered if all of the following required requirements are met: • Rural communities with fewer than 100,000 people in the same economic zone may join a partnership to submit an application. Census 2016 statistics will be used as the reference year for population counts. • Communities must be located outside of the census metropolitan areas of Calgary and Edmonton. • One or more employers are interested in joining and have full-time, non-seasonal employment that is permanent (minimum of 12 months). • an endorsement letter of support from participating town or municipal councils signed by the mayor or reeve

USES NOT ALLOWED • The Rural Renewal Stream cannot be used for the following purposes: • hiring part-time or seasonal employees • Individuals nominated under this stream must still be licensed by the appropriate Provincial Regulatory Organization (PRO) if their occupation is regulated or meets Alberta industry trade requirements for a specific trade in Alberta. • Learn more about Alberta's regulated occupations. • Learn more about Alberta's industry trade standards. • The Government of Canada still requires permanent residency clearance.

  5. DESIGNATED COMMUNITIES

COMMUNITY REQUIREMENTS • Identifying and working with community employers who have permanent (minimum of 12 months, full-time, non-seasonal) job openings connecting with settlement-providing organizations to identify and plan for some of the community's settlement needs developing additional criteria (optional) to recruit foreign nationals • This could include narrowing down the occupations in which the community is interested in recruiting, responding to foreign national questions while actively recruiting, and engaging with businesses on selecting and endorsing the foreign national. • creating and carrying out a strategy for welcoming and settling foreign national(s) in the community
