Students need to develop a good research question for their doctoral programme in order to create an influential impact upon the whole research experience. Selecting a worthy research topic enhances the root to academic success.While choosing the right research topic, students should take care of a few factors-
1. Area that interests you: Select the area that most interests you. unless you choose an area of your interest, you will get bored in a year and can’t continue it for long. Therefore, always go for a topic for which you have immense interest. 2. Topic that generates value: While navigating various interesting ideas, it is necessary to strike the right cord between interest and importance. Importance of any topic depends on the societal needs and extent of value creation.
3. Perform a literature survey: Before finalizing a research topic, you should take a brief look at the existing literature body to gain a deep understanding. If you conduct a careful literature survey, you may easily find the literature gap based on which you can form your research question. 4. Relevant research question: Forming a significant research question is imperative to good research. Research question must be relevant and right to make students focused and motivating towards their research. Meaningful research question is the key to meaningful discovery.
5. Take advisor’s help: Students should brainstorm their topic after talking to advisors, experts, teachers, and senior scholars at the initial stage. Advisors can help them come on a decision on a particular topic. 11 questions you should consider before choosing the right research question-1.Can you ardently pursue it?2.
