It’s called: Graduated Interval Recall I’ve forgotten that already It’s called: Graduated Interval Recall I’ve forgotten that already
. A … If we were to plot what it looks like on a graph
. If you test yourself, just as you’re about to forget the thing you’ve learnt
. Your brain will hold on to the information for longer
. Every time you test your new knowledge your brain will hold on to it for longer…
. Every time you test your new knowledge your brain will hold on to it for longer… ...and longer

. I know what you're thinking: That's all well and good, but how do I know when to test myself if...
. …I don’t know when I’m going to forget it?
. If only there was some science to tell me when I had to remind myself…
. As luck would have it, some super smart guy in the 60s came up with the answer.
. Suppose the first time you test yourself on what you’ve learnt, you remember it for 5 seconds 2
. (or 5x5x5 = 125 seconds) If you test yourself again at 20-25 seconds you will remember it this time for 5 3
. And the good news is, the time interval before you need to test yourself again…
. x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 After the tenth time You won’t need to test yourself again for over a year!
