Learn About Biodegradable Lubricants

Just because a lubricant is labeled biodegradable, doesn’t mean you can simply dispose of it in the ground. You should first check with your local authorities to determine what the proper disposal for such a lubricant is. Otherwise you will still be harming the environment.   1. What are Biodegradable Lubricants?

  2. Biodegradable lubricants, generally fall into the synthetic or majority of them are synthetic. Biodegradability basically means that the critters in the ground or in the environment can over time degrade the oil and render it harmless, it doesn't mean that oil in its prime form as it comes out of the can is biodegradable, what it comes back to is that it's in the condensate form. That is any oil that's been carried over, mixed with the condensate or the water that's in the air that's been compressed, and what you get out of your air receivers and your filters and the like. But just because it's biodegradable, doesn't mean it’s okay to put on the ground. It needs to go through an oily water condensate and then at the end of the day that discharge from the condensate, you need to check with your local authorities, councils, water boards to find out if it's acceptable to put down into the sewer. So it's just not a license that if falls on the ground, you don't have to worry about it - you do have to worry about it.
