  1. July 4, 2017 Find Out the Most Common Reasons Why Some Garage Doors Don’t Work Well Garage doors are probably one of the busiest parts of a home. Operating it three to four times a day means it’s going up and down for a maximum of 1,500 times a year. Homeowners, however, rarely notice the work a garage door does every single day, making it easy for them to take its maintenance for granted. Page | 1

  2. Ignoring a minor problem can prove costly. Instead of avoiding the problem, you may have to dig deeper into your pockets to do the necessary repairs. There are several reasons why your garage door isn’t working properly. Knowing the possible causes will help you determine the best solution for it. Dead Transmitter Batteries Without enough power, your garage door transmitters won’t be able to send a signal to the door to open. In this case, you will need to replace the batteries on the transmitter. It’s not that hard to do: simply open the transmitter and remove the old batteries. You may have to use a screwdriver, depending on the type of your transmitter. Next, insert the new batteries while ensuring that the plus and minus signs on both the transmitter and the batteries are aligned. This is the only way for the new batteries to work. After inserting the batteries, test the transmitter to see whether the door opener is working before closing it. Faulty Photo Eye Garage doors developed after 1993 have been equipped with two tiny photo eyes. These eyes detect any item or obstruction in the door’s path when it closes. They’re the reason why garage doors automatically open and close without crushing anyone or anything that might be in the way. When you notice the garage doors aren’t closing normally even when the remote is pressed, you need to check the photo eyes. You can do this visually. All you need to do is locate and inspect the photo eyes for dirt or anything blocking the light from the beam. Also, see if they are misaligned, which can prevent them from matching up on both sides. You can clean the photo eyes using a soft cloth and a mild cleaner. Be careful when wiping the photo eyes, which are made of glass, since they can be scratched or damaged. Page | 2

  3. Misaligned Track A misaligned track shouldn’t be ignored, as it can be a serious and dangerous issue. The metal track enables the door to move properly as long as it’s aligned. A sign of a problem are gaps between the rail and the rollers. Bends in the rails are symptoms of a misaligned track as well. Once you spot such problems, call a professional before the door’s heavy weight makes the issue worse. Problems like these require a professional in garage doors to fix. If you don’t have any about garage door repairs, just call a professional as early as possible.
