  1. The Top 5 Fails

  2. Google has seen its share of flops. Quite a number of them, actually. Here are the top 5 Google fails. 1. Google Knol One of the problems Knol faced was that Wikipedia just had better SEO; this is surprising since SEO trends are largely dictated by Google itself. The last thing heard about Knol was that the code would be transferred over to a company called Annotum.

  3. 2. Google Wave For starters, Wave wasn’t just a social networking site. It sought to merge that aspect with emails, instant messages, wikis, and what have you. The concept seemed to be a disorganized amalgam, and the program’s interface was equally messy. If only Google had a clearer direction of what and where they wanted Wave to be, we might all have been editing our user profiles on it by now. The company seemed to have learned from its mistake, and has scaled back on its social networking ambition with current project Google+. Let’s see how that will turn out.

  4. 3. Google Video The popularity of YouTube urged other companies to try their hand at a video-sharing website, Google among them. Like so many (if not all) others, however, the company just wasn’t able to grab enough attention. Reasons for failure Google taking videos from established websites like Vimeo, Metacafe, 2. YouTube itself; not filtering content that went against internet standards; Quite simply, having the gall to go up against the video-sharing giant. This isn’t a total fail story, though: Google bought YouTube for a whopping $1.65 billion back in November 2006, and has been in control of the website since.

  5. 4. Google Page Creator Depending on who you’re talking to, Google Page Creator either failed as a website creation and hosting service, or evolved into what is now Google Sites. Unlike the company’s move from Wave to Plus, however, the transition from Page Creator to Sites seems to have been the integration of more features into the latter.

  6. 5. Google Buzz Depending on who you’re talking to, Google Page Creator either failed as a website creation and hosting service, or evolved into what is now Google Sites. Google Buzz. This is arguably Google’s biggest fail, since the reason for its demise is that it really brought nothing new to the table. The result? Nobody was using it.
