On 28th April 2023, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) issued the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (Imposition, Collection, and Utilization of Environmental Compensation for Stubble Burning) Rules, 2023. The Commission may impose and collect environmental compensation on farmers liable for burning stubble at the prescribed rates.
