After a long wait, the state-of-the-art aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, is on its way to India. Bristling with the latest warfare paraphernalia, the sophisticated warship will widen the Indian Navy’s arc of dominance.
The Indian Navy finally received its aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya – formerly known in Russian as Admiral Gorshkov. The 45,400 ton carrier was handed over to the Indian Navy at the Sevmash shipyard in the northern town of Severodvinsk on Saturday, November 16, 2013

The long-awaited commissioning of INS Vikramaditya, the country’s second aircraft carrier and Indian Navy’s biggest warship, will take place on Saturday by Defence Minister AK Antony at Russia’s Sevmash shipyard.
India waited for nine years for this day, and Defence Minister A K Antony admitted candidly that they had "almost given up hope on the ship at one point".
