  6. Research update

  7. What the report contains

  8. Trial Projects

  9. to inform e-learning practitioners – in particular the various communities of practice associated with the target learners to add to the knowledge base and demonstrate the use of e-learning for learners with disabilities to explore learning issues, motivation, context and appropriate technologies to gather a range of responses from those involved in the project in different ways and at different times Case Studies

  10. What the project is about Opportunity to explore - teachers Enhancing learners computer & generic skills Access to existing facilities by groups that haven’t had them eg learners with disabilities Putting knowledge into practice Fun & portable – take the learning home Confidence People contact Enabling students who can’t attend to still participate Developing inclusive e-learning styles of teaching Another resource, another tool Themes

  11. What aspects of this application of technology have not worked well? What aspects of this application of technology have worked well?

  12. Teaching strategies Learning strategies Instructional sequence teachers need to consider before using technology in a lesson with this group

  13. Technical Help Pedagogical Help Instructional Design Resource Development Specialist Communication & Collaboration Support & sustainability

  14. I’ve never worked with anyone with any kind of disability so I feel like I’ve personally gained. I was a bit shaky at the start, but once you develop the relationship with the students and a different level of communication and a new approach to teaching, to me it’s a whole new experience With the new technology, the students are more into it than what they have been in previous years. The students have been a lot more interested. So many of our students are visual, creative learners. Having a range of strategies caters for that range of learning methods. There's a lot of spill over. It's not just what you guys are doing in TAFE. It's extended into your home and social lives. don’t underestimate people with disabilities I feel like we've just got the tip of the iceberg What critical thing have you learnt from this project?

  15. Having a support teacher for the students was important Being creative with technology. Seeing someone on TV and saying, "Yep, I'm going to do that" Sophisticated and simple technology. The thing I was impressed with is that these technologies are day-to-day things, not just occasional things. More comments

  16. Seven trial projects now completed. An amazing level of learner satisfaction with participation in the project E-Learning Benchmarks. Online survey of learner group utilising Framework Benchmarking tool to inform Project Performance Indicators % of learners satisfied with e-learning as an educational medium

  17. Nature of the learner’s disability

  18. Are you Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin?
