Grand County I.S. Instruction Series The Operation of Multimedia Projectors
Projectors: Connecting the portable projector (LP340-B) to a Laptop Computer
TIP • Most errors or problems can be avoided if, the video cables between the Computer and Projector are connected correctly, • And the Projector is powered on and allowed to fully cycle on, • The Computer may be started only after the Projector is has fully cycled up, If these steps are not followed, the projector will not function properly.
The Projector MUST be connected to the Laptop in this order: • 1 Connect the Video Cable into the Projector • 2 Connect the Video Cable into the Laptop • 3 Connect the USB Cable into the Laptop • 4 Connect the Power Cord into the Projector • 5 Turn on the Projector, let it fully cycle up • 6 Plug the Laptop Power Cord into an A/C power outlet • 7 Turn on the Laptop
Getting Started • On the back of the Projector is a Video input, an A/C power cord plug and a On/Off power switch.
Step 1 Connect the Video Cable into the Projector Note* there are two connectors attached to the opposite end of this cable, a blue Video connector and a small rectangular USB connector
Step 2 Connect the Video Cable into the Laptop
Step 3 • Connect the USB Cable into the Laptop • Note the USB port location varies depending on laptop model
Step 4 • Connect the Power Cord into the Projector
Step 5 • Turn on the Projector, let it fully cycle up
Step 6 • Plug the Laptop Power Cord into an A/C power outlet
Step 7 • Turn on the Laptop
If, all the following steps were followed in order, you will have the video image from the Laptop projected through the Projector. • This method uses the Laptops Operating System to find and configure the Projector using Microsoft's “Plug-and-Play Feature.
Problems: • If the Projector is not finding a signal from the laptop, (No Image being projected) • Re-check your cables, if a cable was not properly connected, power down both the Laptop and Projector and begin again. • If all the cables are connected and the equipment has power, and there is still a problem:
On the Laptop, Keyboard • Hold down the Keyboard Function Key (Fn) • Press the (LCD/CRT) key (usually the Keyboard (F2) Key) • Once to display only through the Projector • Twice to display through the Laptop and Projector • Three times to project only on the Laptop
Problems • The Projector is working but the image is not equal to the quality of the Laptop. • 1. Screen is “Tiled” Horizontal or Vertical breaks in the image from the image being randomly “tiled” • 2. Or the screen overlaps the projected area and the outside margin is missing
Solution 1 • You have a desktop background that is incompatible with the maximum resolution of the Projector. • Remove the background image, shutdown and re-start the computer. • On the desktop, right mouse click on a neutral area, from the drop down menu select “Properties”, • Click on the “Desktop Tab”, • Chose the (None) option for the background • Click apply, then OK • Re-start the computer
Solution 2 • Your screen resolution setting is greater than the Projectors. This often happens because YOU TURNED ON THE COMPUTER BEFORE THE PROJECTOR! • On the desktop, right mouse click on a neutral area, from the drop down menu select “Properties”, • Click on the “Settings” Tab • Using the “Screen Resolution” slider select 800 x 600 pixels as your screen resolution. • Click “apply” Click “OK” • You should not have to re-start the system
Please!!! • Treat the equipment with respect • Return all cables (keep your Laptop power cable) • Return the Laser pointer and remote mouse • Ask for instructions if you are not sure or have not used the equipment. • Don’t wait for the last minute to reserve the equipment.
