December 2014 October 2014 April 2014 Kailash Mansarovar Mount Kailash is also known as Gang Rinpoche. It is a holy mountain with a height of 6638 m. The mountain is considered sacred in four religions – Bon, Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism. Because of this stature, mountaineers are not allowed to climb on top of it. Situated at a close proximity from the mountain is Lake Mansarovar. The lake is also called MapamYumtso, and quite like Mount Kailash, it is also considered sacred in the four religions mentioned earlier. It is a fresh water lake and is situated at an altitude of 4590 m. The lake remains frozen for a couple of months during winter season. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Kerung Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Kerung is a 14 days long journey. The journey starts from Nepal, and the major places that you’ll cover in Nepal are Kathmandu, Syabrubesi and Timure. Syabrubesi and Timure are beautiful villages in the Langtang Region of Nepal. On the fourth day, you cross the Nepal China border and reach the city of Kerung. In Tibet, the places that you’ll cover are Saga, Darchen, Dirapuk and Zuthulpuk; all of them are culturally rich places, with so many things to see and explore. Throughout the journey, you’ll either drive or trek to reach your destination. You take the same route to return to Nepal. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa covers the capitals of the two countries – Nepal and Tibet, which are Kathmandu and Lhasa respectively. Both are ancient cities that are filled with heritages such as centuries old temples, palaces, museums and so on. Starting from Kathmandu, altogether, it’s a 15 days long journey, and during this time, you cover places such as Shigatse, Saga, Derapuk, Darchen and Zuthulpuk, along with the capitals.
