Baby bottle tooth decay also known as early childhood caries, is basically a tooth decay among babies caused due to improper feeding habits. Causes Prolonged exposure of baby's teeth to drinks containing sugar. When a baby sleeps with the bottle in his/her mouth. Giving pacifiers dipped in sugary syrups to baby. Baby not receiving adequate amount of fluoride. Treatment Dental fillings or restoration techniques. In extreme cases, tooth extractions may be required. Pulp therapy or root canal therapy. Prevention Start brushing your baby's tooth when it first erupts gently without using a toothpaste. Wipe your child’s gums with a clean pad after every feed. Floss baby's teeth regularly once all their teeth appear. Schedule regular dental visits after your baby's first birthday.
